Fly High at Oktoberfest in Cambridge Massachusetts

oktoberfestHow high are you willing to fly for charity?  The organizers of the annual Cambridge Oktoberfest celebration Oktoberfest and Honk! Festival Parade have given you the opportunity to answer that question by bringing ReMax back to the Cambridge Common with their hot air balloon.  I confess I am a chicken so I would opt for just giving the charity the money but if you have ever thought about trying a hot balloon ride this is a very convenient chance for you to do so.

The Harvard Square Business association has been putting on the Oktoberfest festival and parade for more than 30 years with this year being the 32nd time(2010).  The event is a combination of a parade featuring marching bands, bands on various stage around Harvard Square as well as traditional Oktoberfest food and beer offerings.

50 plus International Food Vendors! Enjoy authentic Oktoberfest dishes at the Sandrine’s booth featuring Chef Raymond Ost’s world renowned Choucroute! Enjoy the ceremonial Keg Tapping and Toast and authentic Bavarian food, beer and costumes at Grendel’s Den.

There is food for all tastes though it is after all Harvard Square.  Kids are also welcome with activities on Church street that include a Thomas the Train ride.

Please keep in mind that the parade starts out of Davis Square in Somerville at 12 noon and ends at Harvard Square at about 1pm.  This is a free event to attend and as usual public transportation is the easiest way to go.  More information can be found here.

What follows is a video put together by ReMax with footage from both the hot air balloon rides and other Cambridge Oktoberfest activities that took place.  Enjoy and please post a comment if you are daring enough to take the ride on the balloon!
